Install Ubuntu 9.10 on external drive via Mac OS X (10.5.6)

Hi all,

I have no idea whether this is the appropriate forum, but please feel free to move it if need be. I have a Macbook Pro running Leopard 10.5.6 and have removed the hard drive from an Acer laptop (since I was unable to install Ubuntu 9.10 using its CD-ROM drive). The goal here is to basically install(/slipstream?) Ubuntu on this drive I've removed while connected to the Mac. Anyone have any resources for this? I've googled till I'm blue in the face, but it doesn't appear this is all too popular a setup.

Thanks in advance,
Loadedmind

All you should have to do is specify the external drive (NOT the internal HDD, make very sure of this) for the installation target and let it run through.

Once you put the drive back into the other machine, it probably won't work 100%, but it should work well enough for you to get to 100%.
