Install Redhat on an XP laptop?

Hello,

I started getting into Linux when I took a 3d modeling and animation class at my school. I was wondering If there are any problems with installing Redhat on my machine, and running a duel OS laptop...

I have been told that linux has always been shaky on laptops, and that XP tends to detect the OS as a bug, so every time XP updates It makes you reinstall Linux?

I'm not set in stone about installing Linux on my machine, but I would like to become more familiar with the OS.

Welcome to LQ.

I run XP pro and RedHat 9 on my work laptop without a problem. if you reinstall XP you will need to reinstall the linux bootloader but that is fairly easy with the redhat rescue cd (CD1).

I run a dual-boot HP ze4230 laptop and it works great. Check out the details on your machine, or one close to it, at the site in my signature. Linux runs great on a lot of laptops, despite the rumors to the contrary.
