install debian

I am trying to install Debian on a Dell laptop. I boot from the CD to the gui install. I click on install, and it just sits there, and does nothing. I tried to re-download the iso, and it still does the same thing.

If you don't get error message, we can hardly help you, you can use other debian based distribution, there are plenty of 'em.

Check your md5sum.

Boot iso and use advanced> expert mode

Real easy to use.

Which CD? CD1, Live CD, other?
Nothing? Not a single message?
In addition to etech3's advice about checking the md5sum, if you did not burn the disc at the slowest speed, do so in the future.

Possibly there could be a H/w compatibility issue. Let's know what are H/w config for your Dell Pc and which version of debian you tried to install.

The only thing we know abot the machine is that it is a Dell laptop. We don't know how old it is nor do we know any of the specs. If it is an older machine I'd be using the text installer. Other than that you are really going to have to give us more information about the machine and other suggestions already posted above by my learned colleagues.
