Increase VRAM in intel gma 950 ?
And before you say it, I know that the Intel GMA 950 should dynamically allocate memory when it is needed, but I have a feeling it doesn't do it.

When I enter my BIOS there is a section for specifying how much memory the video card should take but it's grayed out and reads 8 MB. I can't change it. Why would it be there if it could not be changed ? Can I somehow unlock it ?

My guess is that this specifies the minimum memory the card should take i.e. should never go below that even if it's not using it, right ? The reason I want to increase this amount is because I keep getting a "BadAlloc (insufficient resources)" error with some applications, but only when i'm running xcompmgr in the backround. I don't know why it would run out of resources if the card can take up to 64MB of RAM. Surely xcompmgr isn't using up that much ? Could it just be the problem of it somehow not being able to go above those 8 MB ?

I know this isn't linux specific, but Linuxquestions has always helped me in the past. You guys have always helped me, and I'm asking for your help once more :)

BTW, I run Arch Linux on an MSI laptop.

Is the motherboard of laptop custom-made?

you need to install a package that is called 915resolution. With this tool you can set the resolution and the number of bits per pixel. 915resolution will then reserve the memory needed for your settings.
