improving disk performance

Is there any way to improve the perforamnce of disk on linux laptops?

Also when I run cat /proc/cpuinfo,

it shows that

modelname Intel Pentium processor 1600 MHz
cpu MHz 599.107

Do somebody know the reason behind it and how can this be corrected

(DMA is already on)

thanks,

Disk performance:

check out hdparm.

But be carefull. Read the manpages and go online before you start randomly trying options.

Can't help you with the cpu question. sorry.
