IBM Thinkpad R40, Type 2723-3XU Wifi Help
I have an IBM Thinkpad R40, Type 2723-3XU, which has an Intel Corp PRO/Wireless LAN 2100 3B Mini PCI Adapter. The wifi works fantastically under the Hedgehog, but when I install the Badger the wifi is not recognized. I recently had a friend to install/configure ndswrapper but it failed to allow me to access the wifi. This has forced me to reinstall the Hedgehog. Now there is nothing wrong with using the Hedgehog but I want to be able to use the latest release of Kubuntu.
The wonderful thing about a Debian-based distro is that once you get it up and running, with all your devices configured, you don’t ever have to stomp on it with a reinstall; you just upgrade with atp-get or something like it. This truth is what most puzzles me with my upgrade. I installed Hedgehog at its release and the wifi worked fine. When Badger was released I went in and updated my apt repositories from “hoary” to “breezy” and then did a sudo apt-get dist-upgrade. My computer upgraded to Badger and then my wifi failed to work. When I ran iwconfig I saw that the proper wifi driver was installed but the wifi would not work. I then had a friend to install and configure ndswrapper. The wifimanager noticed the wireless connection but I could not do any net activities like get on the Internet or check my email. This is very frustrating. That is whay I had to go back and reinstall the Hedgehog. Any suggesitons on what to do so that I can use the latest version of Kubuntu?
