I want to buy a laptop for Linux and not have to pay for Windows Where?

Hi guys

I need a laptop to install linux, BUT, most of the providers sell their units with Windows.

I do not want to pay for Windows if I'm not ussing it.

Any one knows where to find one?

Several places offer linux-compatible laptops without operating systems (www.idotpc.com, www.gearzoo.com). Check Lindows.com website for a list of places that sell Lindows laptops. If they work with Lindows, they'll work with any Linux.

Another option is to buy used. A great site is retrobox.com they have used Dell and IBM latops without operating systems for less than $1000 US.

Good Luck.

Actually there should be a way out (but it's difficult): you buy your favourite laptop with Win. The first time you power on DO NOT ACCEPT the microsoft contract, send back any windows installation cd to your laptop manufacturer and you should be refunded. IN THEORY should work, better ask in the shop! Maybe it's even more difficult, due to microsoft "strange" ways to bundle windows with PCs...
