There's a difference in how you might be creating WEP keys on the router and how you assign them to a card using iwconfig.

If you created a WEP key using passphrasing on the router... that's the problem. Just assign a hex key by hand on both sides and you have no worries.

You actually bought the best card on the market, and from the only guys that have yet to NOT change the chipset without also changing the model name. Unlike the 3 different chipsets that masquerade as the WMP11.

I'll second that. I have an MA401 and it worked right out of the box. I activated 128 bit WEP and it still works...however I didn't use a passphrase, I typed in a long key on the router and used the same in my config files on my laptop. Have not had a single problem with it since. Its actually easier to use the thing in linux than it is in windows.

According to the uberlist, the SMC2532 High Power is just another Prism2 card, what's the output of:

/sbin/cardctl ident

Thanks for ur help every1 my internets gone down at the moment so im having 2 use the college internet 2 post this reply when my internet comes back up i will look at the different websites and try the different things every1's put.

PS does any1 know where i can get IBM drivers for my LAPTOP THINKPAD 390E its got linux redhat 9 on it but i cant find the display drivers and sound drivers ETC.

I cant really find any drivers as such but every web site is giving me different information like some tell me to get the new kernal and others just point me to different websites which dont help anymore Im having really troble finds drivers for my laptop (IBM Thinkpad 390E 2626 E0G) ive been to the www.ibm.com and searched there but nothings come up for linux drivers so

MY QUESTION IS THIS: ARE THERE DRIVERS FOR LINUX OR ARE THEY FILES WHICH YOU PLACE IN A CERTAIN LOCATION?

if any1 can help me i would be very great full i will back on the internet properly at the weekend and i use MSN messenger which is spjm_634@hotmail.com if any1 got any help i would be very great full but i also use TEAM SPEAK if any1 uses it. that would be easier coz some could talk me though some things.

but any help any1 can give though this site would help me alot IM WOT EVERY1 CALLS A NEWBIE. PLZ help me IM LOST
