i have installed RHEL6 could not boot into GUI (Not getting graphical login screen)


Hi There,
I have a Sony Vaio which has windows 7 home basic, 4Gb RAM, 1GB NVIDIA Graphic card, 500 GB HDD. I want to install RHEL 6, after 3 times fresh installations it still could not boot into GUI (Not getting graphical login screen/promt)

Kindly suggest

first step with red hat is
read the install documents
http://docs.redhat.com/docs/en-US/Re...ide/index.html
then the knowledge base
https://access.redhat.com/knowledge/search
( you will have to log in to red hat with the username and password you set up when you bought the REQUIRED license
? you did buy the required support contract ?
if not then buy it

or

do not use red hat
there are free rebuilds
CentOS and ScientificLinux


also it is a very well knowwn issue with MS windows7 and NOT having a install dvd
there is a "recovery" partition that is hidden on windows BUT that linux os's see
grub has most likely been installed on top of your MS win7 recovery partition ( sda1)

this a very well documented problem caused by MS
