I have a problem with 2.6.4 on ThinkPad R50

After I turn off notebook The LED of battery still shown and then, about 40 minutes, my machine is very very heat.
I don't know what happen. I've to take off battery and cool down my machine by big fan.
I think, maybe it's about power management system (acpi). I seleted wrong option for kernel
Anyone ever use 2.6.4 with notebook? please suggest me about power management that you use.
I've no problem with 2.4.22 with slackware 9.1 everything look good.

So sorry for my English
