I getting the error you must set the environmnet variable to a working compiler
I am attempting to install gcc on my hp zv5000 laptop running Fedora Core 2. I was able to untar the file gcc-core-3.4.0.tar.gz but when I attempt to install it from the :
[root@localhost gcc-3.4.0]# ./configure
directory I get the following error :
*** The command cc -o conftest -g contest.c failed.
*** You must set the environment variable CC to a working compiler
What does this mean? And what do I need to get gcc installed? I am attempting to install nessus but when I tried to is stated that I needed a working compiler like gcc. Help please. Thanks.
