I destroyed my partition table

Hi

I started using linux for my school, and I'm using it for over a year now.

Up until now I have been using (ubuntu, mint, and ubuntu likes like lubuntu,...)

Recently i tried to install arch linux (As a challenge, and because i wanted to learn more about linux).

After encountering a lot of driver issues, I guess I wasn't really paying anymore attention once I got those solved.

That's why I accidently formatted my ubuntu home folder instead of my partitions that i prepared for it. (they had an equal size so I guess that makes me a little less stupid, But it was still stupid though ).

Because i hadn't overwritten anything yet, i tried repairing it with testdisk.
But after i rebooted i noticed i couldn't boot in anything except my archlinux live usb.

My guess was that i destroyed the partition table, so i tried repairing that with testdisk. And it worked... a little bit.

I now have the option in my pc's boot options. But whatever i select it will give me grub normal.mod not found error.

So now i don't know whether my partition table for the other sda's are broken, or is it just my grub that is fucked up?

thank in advance

btw: sorry for my bad english, i'm from belgium.

I'd say your partition is back to health again. I'd say you have to reinstall grub again or edit your grub.cfg so it finds it modules files. Check out this thread and see how far you get http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi...em-4175468869/. Also its from grub rescue but should not matter.

Can do that from a live cd (boot). But as you get a grub prompt at least I read that from your post you dont actually need that.
Repairing through live cd is not that trivial but doable.
