Every time I plug in any USB device (USB stick or pl2303 - usb to serial converter) my hwclock changes. If I connect to port 1 of USB it changes to 2008 and on port 2 to 2096

what distro/kernel are you using. Also what is the output of "lspci -vv |grep usb". Your problem is definately a bug or driver issue. With any luck we can help you find out which one, then correct it.
