HP Touch Panel WiFi Problem

I am looking for a linux driver for HP DV4-1000 LapTop.

I am fairly new to linux, so please bare with me. I am working with an HP DV4 Touch Panel Laptop. I know, its a pos, but this is what I am stuck with for a while.

There is a touch light at the right upper corner of the keypad for activating and deactivating WiFi. When I boot into linux, the touch pad does not respond, thus I cannot activate the wifi card. The card is a broadcom integrated. I am using Back Track 3 I have also tried ubuntu neither are functioning with the touch panel.

IMHO, the touch pad has sod all to do with the wifi.

Broadcom? Try these commands as root somewhere
lspcmcia
lspci
psusb
search for your broadcom. When you find it use a -v option to get more detail.

lsmod |more

search for ssb, b43, btusb.
ssb has b43_pci_bridge built into it usually.

EDIT: If the touchlight isn't on, the device is powered off. Check the Bios. Also try
dmesg |grep -i Broadcom

Don't be fooled by a broadcom wired nic. I have a hp 6715s with a broadcom 5906 wired nioc and a broadcom 4312 wifi card. Once you know what you have, pump the name into www.google.com/linux and read up how others sorted it out.

You will probably need a kernel 2.6.27.x or later.
