HP NX5000 with Suse linux 9.1: not able to configure and run wireless

Hi There,

I installed suse linux 9.1 in my hp compaq nx5000 laptop. I wanted the wireless network to work, so that I installed the driver ipw2200 from sourceforge.net:

%lsmod | grep ipw2200
ipw2200 115564 0
firmware_class 9472 1 ipw2200
ieee80211 33604 1 ipw2200

Then I wanted to configure my wlan by using the yast tool but I don't suceed in getting the wireless working (IP address by dhcp), even when trying to switch on the wireless button.

Could somebody help me on that?

You should probably read ipw2200 readme and configure the card manually. The same applies to e.g. Cisco WLAN cards.

If you install driver manually, then YaST does not have the card information in it's database. Intel created that project about the time 9.1 was realeased (as i recall). So 9.1 does not contain any support for that project.
