I do not think that there is such a thing as a ready to install distribution for handhelds. The version of Linux used on handhelds is called embedded Linux.

The HP Jornada 548 uses an OS which is a port of the Microsoft handheld OS. I do not know of anybody having ported embedded Linux to the HP Jornada 548.

So if you want to install embedded Linux on your HP Jornada 548 it probably will mean porting embedded Linux instead of installing something like Red Hat. Porting embedded Linux is a major task. You can do it but not in a weekend.

Thanks. I've heard that you could get NetBSD installed on the HP Jornada 548 and I'm looking into that but it seems very difficult. Thanks, Jeremy

Installing any OS on a handheld is a lot more difficult than installing Red Hat on a PC.
