HP HDX16 wireless and graphics card - debian lenny
hi! i installed debian lenny on my hp hdx16 and i have some issues. well... everything works fine but not at the same time! to make my wifi work i used the iwlagn (http://wiki.debian.org/iwlagn) which installed a new version of the kernel. it worked just fine. then i installed the nvidia drivers for my graphic card. when i boot from the kernel i installed gdm will not load and an error in a blue screen will appear. when i boot from the default debian kernel from the installation disk, wifi will not work. i really have no idea what to do to make them both work at the same time. :( any ideas? thank u!!!

How did you install the nvidia drivers ? from Debians repository , or using the installer from nVidias website ?
and what is the error you get when attempting to boot normally ? |
when i try to boot normally wifi does not work because iwlagn uses a different version of the kernel (linux-image-2.6.29-bpo.2). i installed nvidia drivers from the debian repos because from the nvidia website the drivers would not install (i only tried to install them on the linux-image-2.6.29-bpo.2 version of the kernel).

...and when i log in from the other kernel (the one where the wifi works) i only get a blue screen saying that gdm can not be loaded and i have to work only from a virtual terminal...

Ahh I see the problem.. read this thread in the nvidia forums..
http://www.nvnews.net/vbulletin/show....php?p=1979975 Easiest solution is to compile your own vanilla 2.6.29 kernel from the looks of things.. |
