HP G70 Laptop wifi switch will not turn blue
I have an HP G70 laptop that I got with Vista probably 3 years ago. I reformatted and installed Linux Mint (Julia), and everythin worked great until a couple of weeks ago. I replaced the battery with a new one, and since then I can not get wifi enabled.
This model has a button above the keyboard that is amber with wifi is off, and blue when it is on. Nothing I do seems to turn it back on. There is apparently some way to do it using Windows, but I don't have it on this computer any more. I tried booting from a live CD to see if I could find a utility of some kind, but so far, nothing. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks |
The first step is to identify the wireless chipset. It could be not working because the necessary drivers are not present. Certain brands can take a little more effort than others.
This post, though it's mainly about Broadcom, starts out some diagnostics you can use to do that: http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi...ux-4175434970/ |
I don't know about G70 but the G60 is touch sensitive. Just touch the light or rub it & it should be enabled.
