Is this the lappy in question? This laptop relies on proprietary chipsets (NV Go 430) and, therefore, is discouraged with any open-source distribution. See what has been discussed in the NV support forum. |

this is the exact model that i plan to buy.......i do not have this laptop so i had not tried slackware on it ....but i found on net that everything goes fine with intel and slackware |
That is very close to my laptop. I have a DV2000t CTO (configured to order).
I have entered it in the HCL here, and have some info on my web page (http://gruven.googlepages.com). |

CPU T2060 Vid i950 GMA Aud 3D Sound Blaster Pro compatible sound 16 bit integrated Wifi 802.11 a/b/g WLAN + bluetooth Modem High speed 56K modem The intel stuff is fine... all open source drivers. You may need a compatibility package to get higher than 1024x768 resolution. Use the 2.6 kernel option. Wifi and modem probably won't go out of the box. Same with the web cam. However, you should be able to get wired net access and everything else goes... so you should be able to get everything going in the end. Read that HCL entry Also, Linux on Laptops lists similar HW dv2215. If the vendor will let you, try the live disk on a demo model. |
