HP dv1000: using WPA-PSK with ipw2200 drivers in FC6

Hello all. I'm currently running a nice fresh install of Fedora Core 6 on an HP dv1000, mainly for school, I'm working on getting Gentoo installed on another partition for my other purposes (but that's irrelevant).

I have used Fedora Core 6 in the past, and I remember setting up the ipw2200 was a slight pain in the ass, but I have already installed the package ipw2200-firmware. I've rebooted since then, and I keep getting the error as follows upon activating the wireless card (eth1) in the graphical interface:

Code:
Determining IP information for eth1... failed; no link present. Check cable?
I'm unsure if this means I can't connect to the network or if my device isn't set up correctly.

In my home I have a D-Link router, configured with WPA-PSK. First, I need some help making sure all of the network card has what it needs to operate, and then next I need to know if I need to do anything special since I'm going to be using WPA-PSK. Any help would be appreciated.

You may want to look here ...

http://hostap.epitest.fi/wpa_supplicant/

In order to connect to the RADIUS server where I work, I had to install and configure this software on top of making sure that my ipw2200 drivers were working correctly.

I managed to get it working in under an hour; the documentation is decent. If you have any questions, post them here or PM me.

NetworkManager also can handle wpa-psk. When gnome loads, try running /etc/init.d/NetworkManager start. Then run nm-applet --sm-disable. If all goes well, you should be able to click on the icon in the system tray and find your access point.

If this works, then go to services under administration and then enable NetworkManager. Then, go to Network under admininstration, select eth1, click on edit and uncheck the box by "activate at boot", and that will take care of the pesky messages at boot time. Do this only if you are going to have NetworkManager take care of everything.
