HP Compaq nx9005 RH9 Screen

Ok... where to start. I have just purchased a HP Compaq NX9005 (Athlon 2400 version), it has a 15" TFT screen.
I installed RH9 on it and I have thus far had 2 problems.

First of all... there was a PCMCIA issue, so I ran the interactive startup and disabled the PCMCIA service.

Ok..... bootup continued.... and it tried to load X. After a couple of tries... this blue screen with a light blue window appeared. For some reason I could not see the text and all I can see is a "yes" and "no".

After hitting Yes... I get this...

I then hit exit... and it appears as tho RH tries other ways of loading X. I try the redhat-config-xfree86 command and all I ever end up with is this..

My guess is that its a monitor problem. I have tried to find the horizsync and vertsync values but there's nothing in XP to tell me what they are. All I get is that its a "default monitor".

In the RH9 setup I just went along with the "unprobed monitor". I have also tried using one of the generic notepad screens, all I got with that is that there was an error installing monitor driver or something.

I am open to suggestions.......

I will find a way to solve the problem.

I'll try using the VESA driver and just experimenting with diff monitor types on install, lol.

I have solved my problem, I used the VESA driver and chose the generic 1024x768 notebook screen on install.

Red Hat looks beautiful on a laptop.
