Question HP 8510p

I'm considering the purchase of the HP 8510p. Do you think it will work out well with Linux, specifically Slack and Arch?

I bought a HP Pavillon 9540, brand new a couple of months ago.
I have managed to get it to work, took some weeks, with lots or problems.
Now I cannot get neither an external webcam neither the internal webcam to work, without "loosing" my moust, but then I can use the touchpad.
My experience is, that one should not buy too new hardware, as the linux software (kernel) is hanging behind -maybe buy a new pc, 1-2 years old model.
Also only one processor seems to work, so the system is rather slow, most of the time.
I have an older single processor pc, which is faster, and there my webcam works.
Conclusion: Newbies should not install linux on too new hardware, as they might get problems they could not easily solve.

For linux NEWBIES check out: http://www.minihowto.org with some 28 various minihowtos, which is aimed to start using linux programs without reading too much documentation

Keep in mind that I'm less than a Linux newbie, but from what I've read, the latest version of Kubuntu is supposed to get most everything working upon finishing the install. You may want to give it a shot.
