Hp 15 laptop with Mint 17- closing lid Suspend) dose not reduce power usage

HP 15 laptop using Mint 17. When I close lid to suspend the screen goes black but the power usage stays about 65 watts. When I reopen lid coputer is ready to use . Actually in suspend the power should fall close to zero. Archie

Then we can assume it is not going to suspend. It may take a matter of time by the way to spin down.

A number of factors to consider.

Bios settings.

Types of suspend supported.

Distro support for hardware and acpi. (hopefully not apm)
