How to start linux os based laptop

I just bought new acer laptop.after i switch on laptop and chang password using "passwd"command. i am getting to enter command. now which command should i enter to get home screen.

Which distro, including version, do you have installed? Did you install it from USB stick or from DVD? How and where did you use the passwd utility?

Maybe: startx
Linpus? Look into how to determine what 'packages' are installed.
I'd spend a bit of time looking at some web articles on like:
Intro to Linux beginner commands tutorial

A good first command to learn is: df -h
(it will tell you about disk partition sizes; ignore sys tmp proc run dev)
See IF you have an internet connection by: ping -c 2 8.8.8.8
