Question How to open a file on windows 7 from OEL 5.5 Linux

I am Currently running OEL 5.5 as a guest VMware Player and Windows/7 as the host.

My question can I point to a file on Windows 7 and open that file from Linux??

Thank you in advance for your help.

Hi Manny,

if you mean is to drag-n-drop some files from the host to the vm, I think you need vmware-tools installed on your vm before you can use that feature.

Thank you Sibe,

I do have VMware tools install. From Linux I cannot run a video clip that is located in Windows7---

I have a application running on Linux that runs Web pages.
Now what I like to do--from Linux run a Video that is located in my Windows/7.

Thanks

-Manny

Setup a Shared folder in Windows 7 and access it from your VM.

Oracle's copy of RHEL5 is not free
so unless you have a payed for license form Oracle installing the needed programs on the OLDER 5.5 ( 5.8 is current)
to play videos will be "fun" to say the least .

you will need to install the rpmforge repo , at least.
and install a mess of video programs
contact your payed for Oracle support for a full list of needed rpm's .
