you have to make on one of the disks 100 MB separate boot partition since GRUB can't read RAID. When you partition the disk create two equal partiotions and use them as RAID partitions, make this 100 MB /boot and two SWAP partitions which could be with different sizes - one of them 100 MB more than the other. Wnen you finish partitioning disks you will have one 100 MB /boot, 2 SWAPS and 1 RAID. Choose to use RAID partition formated as ext3 or 4 and mounted on /. This way you can use RAID 0 or 1. That's all.
It's tricky to have separate /boot on one of the disks.

Dual boot on raid0

I also want to install Ubuntu 9.10 on a raid0 drive except I would like to dual boot with my existing Windows XP installation. XP has already been installed on my computer using the mobo's raid controller and a raid driver that I embedded in the installation disk. I have left space after the Windows partition to install Ubuntu but when the installation is almost complete I get the same error message; that grub could not be installed.
Is it even possible to install both operating systems on a raid0 array because the method from the previous post means disabling the existing raid which would mean no Windows and no more games
