How to install Suse9.0 in laptop that has no CDROM support?
Guys & Gals,
I have a fujitsu lifebook B2562, without a fujitsu CDROM ( but with a Acer miniCDRW). The BIOS does not let me from CD.
The BIOS has an option to boot from PCMCIA cards, but when I connect the CDRW to the PCMCIA slot, it does not somehow boot up or recognize it....
I want to get it working to install Suse9.0 ( over the existing RH7.3+win98 dual boot system ).
I (being an amature) took out the laptop harddisk and plugged it as a USB HD to my desktop and installed Suse9.0 from the CD in my desktop, but since it installed GRUB ( my desktop is also dual boot ), now I cannot get the laptop to only boot Suse when I put the harddisk back in the laptop..
any bright ideas...?
thanks,
redrobin.....
PS: a network install did not work either.....
I wanted to get a bootable floppy for the suse9.0 done, but somehow the desktop is refusing to let me create a bootable floopy for suse9.0 which I could later use to boot the laptop and get to the CDRW...??
You imply that the laptop does boot to SuSE, & that your problem is that it also offers to boot to other OS's. Please confirm.
Did you indeed wipe out the Win98 partition when you did your install?
Possibly, your laptop's GRUB menu is referring not only to the installation on its HD, but also to partitions that were on your desktop box during the install. Please describe the GRUB menu displayed upon booting the laptop.
It sounds as if you only need a little help editing the menu.lst / grub.conf file on your laptop
