How to install kernel patch file on RHEL5?

Hallow Everyone,
I have downloaded a kernel patch file 2.6.29-rc2-git1 from kernel.org site.Please help me to install this patch file with RHEL5.This patch file is not RPM type file.I have also downloaded DVDPlayer software but I don't know to install this s/w with RHEL5.This is tar file.

kernel.org patches are for vanilla kernels, RHEL kernels usually have backported features and stuff your are better of sticking with the RHEL provided kernels. If you really need to then get the source rpm and add your patch to the spec file and build a new custom kernel rpm.

as for the DVD software uncompress the tar file you should find a README or/and INSTALL file inside.
