how to install driver for gigabit ethernet card?

I have just installed Mandrake 9.0 on my laptop, however, it will not recognise my Broadcom netXtreme Gigabit Adaptor (which win xp recognises).

Mandrake has a hardware management GUI utility called HardDrake which allows me to configure networking options, but I could not find a driver for Broadcom in the list of drivers provided. I can download the driver, and I know the directory to put it in, but how do I let HardDrake recognise the added driver? Alternatively, can I install the driver in the command line?

Thanks for taking the time to read this post!
