Interesting. Looks like there is a bug in the sis driver in Ubuntu Intrepid 64 bit.

Pity, I was hoping for a proper resolution, but it seems that will have to wait!

the SiS 671/672 (SiS Mirage 3) video chipset works out of the box in Mandriva 2009.0, even x86_64 :-) Mandriva has modified the sisimedia driver and the SiS chipset is recognized fine. Only 2D support, NO 3D, but its far better than the fbdev driver since many more resolutions are supported, important for LCD displays with their native resolution. For Mandriva 2009.1, the driver has to be rewritten, see the mandriva errata for 2009.1 So right now it's the easiest way to use this distribution to get this *§$%**$ chipset running. |
