how to format an EFI partition on a GPT partitioned HD

How can I change the partition type to EFI on a GPT partitioned drive? Parted is the only tool I can find with GPT support, and it doesn't recognize the EFI type.

I have all ready created a small partition, changed the label to "EFI", but left it unformatted. It needs to be formatted as EFI in order for the "boot booster" feature on my asus eee pc to work.

Huh. EFI and GPT are completely different things. EFI is a replacement for bios and GPT is the type of partition that is only supported on EFI aware hardware.

yet there is also a partition type called EFI. Its MBR ID is 0xEF. Its listed as recognized in this wikipedia artical on GPT http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/GUID_Pa...ion_type_GUIDs
