Try to reinstall, thats probobly the easiest thing to do... Unless you had files you needed on it : (.
P.S. What laptop and what distro? |
Do you have another method?
I don't want to reinstall :( distro£ºREDHAT 8 |
Maybe you should try a newer distro?

Does your lilo or grub selection screen have a fail-safe selection? Try booting up with that.
If not, enter the option at the lilo, or grub screen ¨noapic¨. Also, you could use the rescue feature of your first installation disk, and modify the lilo.conf´s append= lines to include the ¨noapic¨ option. For lilo you need to run /sbin/lilo again after making changes. You didn´t include much information in your post. How many processors does your computer have? |
