How much space for root & home?

I'm allocating 6 Gb for Windows, I have about 31 Gb free now. I was thinking 10 for root & 20 for home. Does this sound good, or should I change it? I don't plan on installing a ton of stuff, but I do plan on having a bunch of personal files on my home partition.

Do you mean 5 gigs for a partition that holds everything except /home?

Yep. At the moment I'm only using 5.5 gig for everything including home.

I don't think I've ever used more than 6 GB for my non-home (root) partition. If you're not planning to install a lot of huge programs, you shouldn't need 10 GB.

Thank you for the input, I may have 6 extra gigs to allocate to linux if my stupid (100% legal) copy of windows won't activate.
