Unhappy how do I login as root


Hello,
I'n new on linux. I need to login as root so i can fix my pcmcia on my laptop. I was wondering how to do that.

One way is to enter "root" when prompted for the username at teh logon prompt.

Or:
press CTRL + ALT + F1 to take you to a terminal, then proceed as above.

Or:
In any shell (e.g. xterm) type "su -" then enter the rootpassword when prompted.

when you linuz box start, it will prompt to you to login .
Then just enter root then the root password.
you are in root privilledge

Head on over to LInux Warcry and hit the links section there.. There are a few good admin tutorials listed that may be of use.
