how do i know if i have wireless??

i just won an IBM laptop from my school in an auction, its an R40, but i dont know what specific model... i have very little experience wiht laptops and i was wondering how i can find out if i have a built in wireless card... thanks

well, i just read the sicker on my computer that says Centrino MOBILE TECHNOLOGY... so i do have wireless, and my question has changed to how do i set it up with slackware?

Check the specs on the IBM website. Alternatively, and this assumes that Windows is preloaded, check the Programs list or the hardware list and see if you have a wireless network adapter.

No, in Windows, go to the Device Manager and look at the network card entries. If you have a wireless card it will be in there.

Or, as I said, check the model specs on the IBM website. You may laso be able to check that by serial number.
