How do i install vmware on my laptop?
Hello,
I have windows vista and Fedora linux on my laptop. I do not want to reboot every time i want to get into Linux, so i want to install vmware. Is there a free version available for me to install. If so from where can i get it? & ho do i install it ? OR Is there any other way in which i can use Linux OS from running Windows ? Thanks, |
I use VMware player so that I can access a Windows install to use a couple of applications that don't have Linux versions. The VMware player is free, you can download an RPM version. Also use http://www.easyvmx.com/ to create the Windows virtual machine file to start with. If you open that with VMware player you can boot of a Windows CD/DVD to install it.

vmware server is also free.
vmware server and vmware player can be installed on either a Windows or Linux host. http://www.vmware.com/products/product_index.html vmware server will allow you to create virtual machines and configure them how you want. then you can install whatever OS you want onto those virtual machines. |
Can i install a VMware server edition on my laptop ?
Can i install a VMware server edition on my laptop .
I saw that only the server edition is free of cost.. So, is the server edition compatible on laptops? thanks Quote:

I've got VMware server (version 2) installed on my laptop and it works just fine. The only real issue I ran into is that version 1 of VMware server has an exceedingly difficult time connecting the virtual network card to a wireless card. Version 2 however, works fine with a wireless card.

Hello again,
I have installed vmware server-2 on my dell inspiron, But i get an error message when i try to open the installed component. what should be the http, https port numbers. Error message : hemanthv:8233 uses an invalid security certificate. The certificate is not trusted because it is self signed. (Error code: sec_error_ca_cert_invalid) thanks. |
From what I've seen from googling, this is a Firefox 3 error, not something with VMware. Have a look at the last post in this thread and see if that fixes the problem. A similar solution is in the release notes.
