How do I have vga console on laptop external port and X on built-in LCD/kbd/mouse

Can I setup a laptop in some type of dual monitor mode where the built-in LCD is a 1024x768 X-windows session attached to the built-in keyboard/track-point and the external monitor port is connected to the Linux vga console out (no need for keyboard/mouse)?

Ideal setup would be my existing Dell Latitude D610 (Mobile Intel 915GS Graphics Card) running Debian Etch, but would be will to buy new laptop or run other flavor of Linux if needed.

I don't think what you want to do is possible. It would require a second video card.
