How activate s-video out?

Hi,

I have a notebook with SuSE 8.2, a beamer and I wanna connect those two with a 20m long s-video cable.

Is there a general way under Linux how to activate the s-video out?

Or is it dependent on the distribution?

Or is it dependent on my graphic card?

Where can I find extra information on that subject? With google I couldn't find anything helpful besides this forum...;-)

Thankyou for your advice.
