hot laptop lags

I have a Dell inspiron 8500 w/ p4 2.4 and RH9. After it's been on for a few hours with AC, it's like the whole machine will lag or studder, almost like playing a game online. Everything will freeze for a second or 2, and then it will be okay. It does this every few minutes. I have acpi installed. I was wondering if this problem could be due to hardware overheating. Its very annoying, and only effects linux, not my XPpro.

Thanks for the help!

Turn kudzu off in a terminal screen.

service kudzu stop

If it does work you will need to change the runlevels for it in Start Menu/system settings/Server Settings/Services. You need to change it in all runlevels.
Might help
