Help with new System76 laptop

have bought 2 system76 desktops in the past and never had a problem installing Linux Mint. I recently bought a system76 Lemur lap top with 867Mbps + bluetooth
https://system76.com/cart/configure/lemu6
Mint 17 will not recognize the wireless hardware in there. Ubuntu + Cinnamon kind of sucks.

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks.

Hi...

If you would, please open a terminal and post the results of these commands...

Code:

lspci -nnk | grep -i net -A2
Code:

lsmod
Code:

iwconfig
Code:

rfkill list
This should give more details of the wireless adapter your system is using. :)

Regards...

Hi...

From what I see below, your adapter is not only recognized but you're logged into a network...

Code:

02:00.0 Network controller [0280]: Intel Corporation Wireless 8260 [8086:24f3] (rev 3a)
        Subsystem: Intel Corporation Device [8086:1010]

Code:

iwlwifi              200704  1 iwlmvm
Code:

wlp2s0    IEEE 802.11abgn  ESSID:"VaderNet"
          Mode:Managed  Frequency:5.745 GHz  Access Point: 74:D0:2B:89:1D:2C
          Bit Rate=780 Mb/s  Tx-Power=22 dBm
          Retry short limit:7  RTS thr:off  Fragment thr:off
          Power Management:off
          Link Quality=60/70  Signal level=-50 dBm
Rx invalid nwid:0  Rx invalid crypt:0  Rx invalid frag:0
          Tx excessive retries:0  Invalid misc:114  Missed beacon:0

However, your bluetooth is soft blocked for some reason. So, out of curiosity, does executing the following command restore your internet connectivity? Please confirm that all entries remain unblocked. ;)

Code:

rfkill unblock all
Also, what do you see when you bring up a browser?

Regards...

Hi...

Thank you for the reports. Take a careful look through this thread. The very last poster said it worked for his adapter, too, which is the same one as yours. :)

Mint has mintwifi and inxi for giving info on wireless and computer hardware.

isnt the benefit of buying from a oem linux vendor is that you already paid for support ?

They only support Ubuntu.

Using a new Kernel solved the problem.
