Help needed to diagnose lockup on IBM X31 without serial interface
I have an IBM Thinkpad X31 which is suffering from intermittent crashes. I've had RH9 and Fedora Core 1 installed and also tried upgraded kernels (I'm currently running 2.6.1). The problem has happened with every kernel I've tried so far. I can't identify exactly what's causing the crashes - the effect is that it freezes and needs to be powered down. Sometimes (at least with the 2.4 kernels) I would see the CAPSLOCK light flashing when it hung.
I want to see what's causing the crash and on a desktop machine I would normally attach a serial console and wait for the crash. Unfortunately, the X31 does not have a serial port so I'm at a loss for how to proceed. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Regards,
Denis
