Two suggestions:

Test with a mouse.

Try a Live CD of something else and see whether the Touchpad works with it. If not, it's like hardware.

Also, please change the subject line to something more descriptive. "Help me" does not give any indication of what the problem is; persons who might be able to help might well skip over the thread as a result.

I have the same problem with a Sony Vaio Laptop that I am configuring. A mouse usually works, but not always. When your touchpad and/or mouse freezes follow the actions described in this link. This problem was more general with laptops some months ago (linux kernel bug), but seems to have prevailed for Sony Vaio. If you search the net you will find infinite reports on problems with the touchpad of Sony Vaio laptops, and still no sure way to solve the problem. The above mentioned link gives at least a temporary solution to circumvent the problem, without having to restart. The problem is not limited to Ubuntu, but appears in Fedora, Linux Mint and OpenSUSE as well. If you find a distro that does not have this problem please mention it, so that more people will know...
And again, please change your subject line to something descriptive. I only read this post out of curiosity, usually I would have skipped it...
