help installing prism2/3 driver for wireless
hello. i have an integrated wireless nic in my laptop, a NeWeb U300 (Wistron company, USB) and according to this linux wireless guide it runs off the prism2/3 chipset. I need to know where i can get this driver so my card can work, preferably on debian or slackware. Thanks.

The prism2 driver is in the Linux kernel, at least from 2.4.21 onwards.

give this a look. if your wireless chipset is supported (i do believe it is) it let's you use your windows driver.
http://www.linuxant.com/driverloader/ here's kinda of a configuration guideline. it uses the wg511 from netgear though, but hopefully it can provide a framework for you to figure out the configuration. http://toys.lerdorf.com/archives/15_...and_Linux.html |
I don't think there's any need to bastardize a Linux box with a prism chipset with Windows drivers and commercial driverloaders. Get the good stuff - linux-wlan-ng - at the linux-wlan FTP server and instructions for installation and usage are in the README file.
Good luck. Håkan |
thank you all for the replies and help
