Help!!!! I cannot boot from a LiveCD (Troppix and Wifislax)

I've been using Troppix 1.2 since 2006 successfully on my Sony Vaio using a wifi PCMCIA card with an atheros chipset (D-Link DWL-650).

I tried to boot it as always a few days ago, and my BIOS does not let me!!! I have no idea why, nor

I've tried going into the BIOS, and the order of booting is correct.. (1st from the optical drive, etc)

I've even tried disabling the hard drive, putting the Live CD in, but the BIOS says "NO OS FOUND"

I've upgraded the BIOS, and upgraded the firmware on the CD ROM but nothing..

I have been able to boot from the Norton Ghost boot disk.. So I know it boots correctly..

I have been able to boot with the same CD on my desktop and it works, but I don't have a compatible wifi device (chipset problems).

I've also tried the Wifi Slax Live CD.. same results.

I've even bought two laptops, and I have been able to boot with them, but they no longer make laptops with PCMCIA slots!!!!! And the wifi chipsets aren't compatible with Troppix nor Wifislax..

How can I 1) Get the same old LiveCD to boot?
or 2) Check some other way to check the "safety" of WEP codes?

just a suggestion....but have you tried to boot the cd with a
nopcmia in the kernel line....just to see if it will boot?

2) according to this link....there may be a new driver ?
http://linux-wless.passys.nl/query_p...andname=D-Link

3) I am thinking....boot the cd...somehow...download the driver...install it run it and see if your network can start?

4) I am not sure if you have a working system on the hard drive....if you did...you could download the driver first...get a /etc/sysconfig setting off someone and save to hd and then copy and paste?
