Thank you. I installed fedora at one point and it worked just fine so I know its possible to get the drivers to work. I will try that and get back to you.
I have found a few sites that use the same steps as the one shown in the link that you found. Here is another: http://atinfinity.wordpress.com/2011...-ubuntu-11-04/
This seems to have worked for some people, but could you help me with the commands. Have tried to run the commands that are posted, but I'm running into problems.
I upgraded to Ubuntu 11.10 and now my wifi works, but it is unclear whether my attemps to use the process of the link you found did something or if the upgrade is what fixed the problem. My wifi is working and I am super happy that it is and thank you so so much for your support/help.
From what I read the fix for your card was in the pipeline, however, they never say just when the fix is made available. I would suspect the driver is available now, and that fixed it.
To fix it with the download, you had to compile the driver, and add patches. Then use modprobe to load the module.
Could you go to the Thread Tools at the top of this thread and mark it Solved, please. Only the original posted can do that, nice for anyone else browsing, and having similar problems to know this thread does contain a fix. In this case an upgrade to 11.10 fixed it.
