HDD (SATA 150) invisible on Lifebook E8020

Hi folks!

Initially being proud of owning a new Fujitsu-Siemens LIFEBOOK E8020, I'm now rather feeling blue:

Linux is until know not able to see my 80GB HDD.
Here some specifications:

HDD: FUJITSU MHT2080BH 80 GB (5400rpm) SATA
Northbridge: Intel 915PM
Southbridge: ICH 6-M
Bios: Phoenix
Flash EPROM: First BIOSTM

I tried to install SuSE Linux 9.2 but also some other Dist.s (eg. a SLAX life-eval-CD)

Do you know any dist. that supports this hardware?

Or can you tell me, where to download the respective module, that I could load during the installation-process?

Thanks in advance for your support!

U must enable SATA support in Ur kernel To "see" the SATA HD.

This can be done by compiling a brand new kernel.

U can also try Slackware 10.1 and select sata.i as the boot image.

Thanks a lot xowl

I now changed some BIOS - settings: SuSE 9.2 is thus running, however only with the option ACPI=off

You're right, I should complie a brand new kernel. But first, I don't know where to find the necessary drivers, second, I'm not very familiar with doing this (it's about 4 years ago that I compiled a kernel on a pc with only old hardware, thus everything was supported already with a standard-kernel) and third, I'm rather too lazy.

So, most probably I'll wait until I find a HOW-TO on www.linux-laptop.net

Thanks anyway!

Have a nice day!
