GUI wont load in RH9 (Toshiba Satellite Pro 4200)

I have a Toshiba Satellite Pro 4200 with Red Hat 9 on it. Today I installed some video players because I want to use this machine as a media box (the screen is busted so it's useless as a laptop)

After installing Xine, a friend of mine edited a system file (I think it was /etc/bash_rc) and added two mount commandsa in order to mount some network shares and a vncserver command.

The problem is that now, just after the login screen, the display freezes in a blue background with a fully functional mouse pointer.

I assume the problem was caused by those commands, if I recall correctly vncserver asks for a session password, so that might be where it is getting stuck.

What can I do to edit that file if I cant get into the GUI?
