GStreamer volume control issues

I'm running openSUSE 10.2 on a HP Pavilion ze4400 (intel) with 'on-board' audio and there is no sound. When I double click on the sound icon, it tells me that that there is "No volume control GStreamer plugins and/or devices found" I went into YaST > Hardware > Sound and configured my sound card and restarted but still no sound. I then thought it was a driver issue, but HP doesnt have linux drivers on their website. How can i get sound working?
