Good Distro for Acer Aspire 5315

Hi

Im looking for a good distro for my Broadcom based wireless laptop. I tried Ubuntu, but the wireless with the Broadcom STA Driver sucks big time, wireless and ubuntu dont go well together. Can anyone recommend another good distro?

Hey there SaraiKhan.

Now hold on a second. That's not necessarily true. Granted, the Broadcom drivers in the kernel do suck (I had a Broadcom BCM4308 AirForce One in my laptop, and it crawled). Wireless in Ubuntu is actually good, and my RaLink RT61 PCI worked just fine. Question: Would you like to try an alternative method to getting your Broadcom card to work at it's full speed, or would you just want to go with a different distro all together? If you want a different distro, your system specs would help us all greatly :)

Well, I was considering trying Archlinux, I used it before, and the speed and the not-bloat level are incredible. I dont know how it will handle my laptop though. My specs are a Celeron 550M at 1.6 Ghz, compliant with X64, X3100 Graphics Card, and 1 Gig Ram. Any suggestions?

Arch would be a great choice, I've used it before...Gentoo and CRUX might be other good ones too, being that you can custom build the systems in both respects (packages and optimisations), and they're a small footprint in most cases...Note: CRUX is very advanced...
