GoBookIII ix260

Recently had to reinstall PCLinuxOS on my GoBook. Now can't get input from my onboard GPS using xgps or gpsmon. Was working till after reinstall. My son did the install, but I can't get him back here to look at this due to work schedule. If anyone can give advice on doing this to someone who is very command line illiterate (needs detailed step by step instructions) it would be really appreciated. A USB gps works just fine.
